ROSAL REMAINS A DANGER TO NORTHERN LUZON
In its 11:00 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA placed Rosal’s center about 400 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, moving west-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour. It reported maximum sustained winds of 185 kph, with gusts up to 230 kph.
Signal No. 2 covers Batanes and the northeastern Babuyan Islands. PAGASA also warned of waves up to 12 meters along Batanes’ northern and eastern coasts. Sea travel is risky for all vessels there.
PAGASA forecast Rosal would come closest to Extreme Northern Luzon between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. That is not a forecast of landfall. The agency said the storm may leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Friday evening or early Saturday.
